(49) Too Many Changes Part II

ResilienceToday’s story is a continuation of episode 48.

How do you know when too much is indeed too much? What do you do to take care of yourself?

I recently pulled a hamstring muscle. It was my warning sign for trying to do too much. The injury has caused me to slow down, contemplate, reflect, and evaluate not just my physical body but my life in general.

Where in your life are too many changes impacting you? Are the warning signs forcing you to slow down?

 Spiritual Insights From this Episode

  • Too many changes causes more struggle than joy.
  • Breath is life- in all ways possible.

(48) Too Many Changes

Too Many ChangesAre you exhausted?

It may not be due to lack of sleep. It may be this thing called emotional overwhelm. Emotional overwhelm happens when too much changes has impacted you too quickly.

It’s too much to keep up with.

In American culture, it happens too often.

Why do we try to live life at 100 miles per minute?

Today’s stories are about all the change we go through and how much of an impact it has on our lives.

 Spiritual Insights From this Episode

  • Being tired doesn’t mean you’re not getting enough sleep. It could mean you need to cut out some of the things you do. You may be trying to do to much, to soon.

(47) Why Are You So Hard On Yourself?

self defeatIt breaks my heart to watch people stuck in self defeat. It also hurts to hear them speak in ways that are so hard on themselves. “Stop being so stupid, what’s my problem, and I can’t believe I did that!” are common sayings from people that are just plain and simply ‘beating themselves up’.

I know this mindset too well. It’s been a common story in my life.

I’m doing things daily to change the habits and self talk. I’m paying as much attention to what I’m saying- all the time. That’s all I can do. The awareness is helping me change my beliefs.

Today’s story is about a person I love very much. Whenever he beats himself up, I always think it’s got to stop- now!

 Spiritual Insights From this Story

  • Being so hard on yourself really only digs you into a deeper hole. Do everything you can to change the self perception and start being more kind to yourself.

(46) Faking Gratitude

Faking Gratitude- Life Changing StoriesAre you getting tired of people saying they are so grateful because how they say it sounds so fake?

American culture is heading in that direction. They are getting really good at faking gratitude.

People are learning how the practice of gratitude can change their lives for the better. So they start speaking of gratitude despite not really meaning it.

Is this a good or a bad thing? I explore it on this episode of the Life Changing Stories podcast.

*Disclaimer* Some of the things shared on this episode are dark and somewhat scary. Just know that no harm was done in the creation of this episode.

 Spiritual Insights From this Story

  • Talk is cheap. Be about it. If you say you are grateful, show you are grateful.

(45) The Power of Being Present

being present

When your mind wanders, you put yourself at risks far greater than you could imagine.

Today, I share two stories. Each one includes an experience of a personal accident. One could have been prevented. And the other saved my life. Each one was a result directly related to being present.

 Spiritual Insights From the Stories

  • Be present to the moment. It will help you live a longer, more fruitful life.

I’m only human and I’ve made a decision to slow down.

From this point forward. You will hear Life Changing Stories episodes about every two weeks.

I promise you the stories and insights will be that much more compelling and helpful.

(43) Seeing the Larger Possibilities of Life

DeanRichardsPhoto“You cannot hope to be a scholar, but what you can do is to curve arrogance. What you can do is to rise above pleasures and pains. You can be superior to the lure of popularity. You can keep your temper with the foolish and ungrateful. Yes, even care for them.” Marcus Aurelius

Dean Richards isn’t the youngest student of life. But he is one of the few that is committed to doing something every day to increase the amount of control he has over each experience.

Dean knows that the more he learns, the more he realizes there is more to learn.

(42) Speaking From The Soul

Reid Peterson of Life Changing Stories2014 was the most difficult year of my life. Career challenges and financial strains negatively impacted my self worth and belief that it was all happening for the greater good.

Though I did work with life and career coaches, I also did a lot of inner work through the production of this podcast. I put myself in a position to stretch my comfort zones, get out of my shell, and connect with others who are/have been going through hard times.

I’m lucky to write that at the time of this episode release, I’m in a much better place! I like where I work. I feel supported and appreciated for my gifts and talents.

However, by some wizardry way, I’m constantly in a “place” of expanding the influence I have on myself and others. This arises from the words I say. I’m now doing a daily practice of “Speaking From the Soul”. What that means is eliminating my brain from filtering what I say and how I say it, and more speaking words of truth- that I “feel” come from the areas of my chest and abdomen (the area where I would argue our soul to reside).

In this journey of speaking from the soul, I’m learning that it brings a more beneficial balance to life. I catch myself creating unnecessary stress and then stop myself from creating more.

It’s an awesome feeling and I intend to do more of it.

This podcast episode is the story of how I came to that realization:

You may want to listen to episode 4 also. This episode is a follow up to what was shared in that story.

(41) Stop Playing the Victim Card and Start Playing Your Options

Life Changing Stories- ReverandCorbiePhotoReverend Corbie doesn’t communicate with Spirits to tell you what to do. She communicates with your guides to give you options. The power to choose is yours. It always has been and always will be. Empowerment is healthy.

Corbie Mitleid is a Certified Professional Tarot Reader, Certified Psychic, trained medium and ordained minister.   Her work is showcased in Robert Schwartz’s breakthrough series, YOUR SOUL’S PLAN and YOUR SOUL’S GIFT.  With 40 years’ experience, Corbie’s abilities include Tarot, spiritual road/karma readings, intuitive counseling, past life retrieval and analysis, mediumship, and spirit guide conferences.

Listen to Corbie’s life changing stories and what she learned here:

Corbie’s Life Changing Lessons

  • We’re here for others. Teaching someone who is less on the path than you is an amazing thing to do in life.
  • Asking yourself the same questions are signals of being stagnant. Life is a roller coaster with no brakes. Seize your opportunities and make the most of your life.
  • It’s too easy to be a victim and think the answer is somewhere out there.
  • People don’t know how to say “no”. Hold your ground and stand up for what’s right for you.

Pearls of Wisdom

  • “If you had to guess” is a magical phrase. It gives you permission to tap into the truth inside of you.
  • Guilt does nothing. Own your stuff and take responsibility. There’s so much out there when you put fear aside.
  • Embrace your brokenness and use it to teach others. That’s empowerment.
  • Get picky. Learn that quiet is okay. Just be. Start with this moment. This moment has all possibilities.
